Five members of the GE Aviation Open Flight Deck (OFD) team were recently acknowledged as part of GE Aviation’s engineering recognition programme. Competition from across the global business is very high, so for one project to receive a quarter of the overall awards available is a fantastic accomplishment.

The awards were won in the following fields:

Early Careers;

Mentoring and Expertise;

Innovation and Imagination; and

Patents.

This is testimony to the work being done by OFD, enhancing the UK Aerospace industry through both innovation and IP creation through new technology development as well as skills enhancement in the workforce through mentoring and early career development.  We’re particularly thrilled to see early careers engineers coming in to the team from the GE apprenticeship scheme and being acknowledged for their contributions. This is a great example of the benefits these new engineers can bring to UK innovation and how working alongside established technical experts provides not only early careers development opportunities but also helps build a competitive and sustainable UK skills base.

Well done to all involved.
