It has long been recognised that aviation has traditionally been at the forefront of technological innovations surrounding the use of automated systems. However, Dr Vicky Banks from The University of Southampton believes it is time to bring together all of the knowledge gleaned from other transportation domains, specifically from the automotive sector, in an attempt to consolidate our understanding of the human factors implications of automation implementation across domains.

This thought-provoking research discussed the shared challenges going forward and calls for a more open dialogue between industries.
